A man in a grey t-shirt stands on a dark stage, holding a microphone in his left hand and pointing upwards and to the right with his right hand. He has short, dark hair and is looking in the direction he is pointing. To the left of the image, the words "Should Christians Tithe?" are written in large white font. In the top left corner, there is a small circular logo with "Overflow" written above a stylized image of mountains and a river, matching the "Overflow" logo from the previous image. The background is dark, likely a stage or auditorium.

Pastor Josh Cooke tackles the often-uncomfortable topic of money in church, sharing why he believes tithing is a vital principle for Christians today. He starts by highlighting that tithing isn’t just an Old Testament concept, but a principle seen throughout the entire Bible, from Abraham to Jesus. Pastor Josh explains that God values “first fruits”—giving the best and first of our income back to Him—as an act of trust and a pathway to blessing. He unpacks why God only accepts the first, linking it to the heart with which we give.

Challenging the idea that tithing is only for the Old Testament, Pastor Josh suggests that in the New Testament, tithing should be the baseline for our giving, as Jesus always called for more from His followers, not less. He shares his personal conviction and the church’s commitment to tithing, emphasising that it releases blessing and grows faith. He clearly states that tithing is by grace through faith, not by law through fear, and is a matter of obedience motivated by gratitude and joy. Finally, Pastor Josh explains how tithing aligns our hearts with God’s priorities, particularly His love for His church.
